As a dually authorized Henry County Economic Development, this not-for-profit corporation has been organized for the purpose of advancing, encouraging, and promoting the industrial, economic, commercial, and research development of our local communities and of Henry county.

The mission of Henry County Economic Development is to retain, expand, and attract capital investment and jobs to Napoleon and Henry County. Strategies used to implement our mission include the use and promotion of local, state, and federal; financial assistance, tax incentives, and training/technical assistance programs.

You can find us involved everywhere from events hosted by county Farm Bureaus to the halls of local, state, and federal government, advocating for policy that supports the future of farming. We are committed to improving the quality of life for residents of Henry County and northwest Ohio through health promotion, health education, and disease prevention. We are proud of our long history of public service and continue to strive to better serve our community. We work with many local, regional, and state partners to prevent disease and injury, promote wellness, and protect the health of all residents.

Henry County Health Department has a staff of approximately 34 full and part-time employees. A seven-member Board of Health oversees the operations and sets the policies of the Health Department. The Board appoints a Health Commissioner as its executive officer to direct the daily operations of the department and carry out all orders of the Board and the Ohio Department of Health.

The Henry County Historical Society formed in 1970 to protect, preserve, and perpetuate the history of Henry County, Ohio, to learn about and preserve the artifacts of the county, and to generate interest in the past of the county.

The Henry County Humane Society was formed in 1981, and began operating a full service animal shelter in 1984 from the County government’s building. in 1995, we acquired our own building and moved the shelter operations to the current location on Independence Drive. The purpose of the HCHS is the prevention of cruelty to animals and the promotion of humane principles in our community. The animal shelter helps lost, abandoned, unwanted, abused and homeless animals by providing humane care and services to re-home animals or reunite lost and found animals with their rightful families. By requiring that all animals adopted from our shelter be spayed or neutered before going home, we are a part of the solution to the pet overpopulation problem in our area. We also provide humane agents to investigate complaints of animal cruelty and humane education for school children in the classroom and also our adult customers.

Our mission is to extend supportive services and resources which will provide for the essential needs of our customers. In partnership with public and private entities, we will initiate efforts to enhance the employment potential of all County residents and promote self-sufficiency for each individual. We will utilize a teamwork approach in achieving our goals, and in doing so will treat each other and those we serve with dignity and respect.

We serve all children, adults, and families who need protection from abuse, neglect, and exploitation; financial and economic support; their family relationships established, nurtured and continuum of education, prevention, and intervention services; strengths-based family assessment; direct services; and advocacy. Through the wise use of community resources and in collaboration with others, we provide a flexible process that promotes self-sufficiency while preserving dignity, privacy, and physical and emotional well-being.

The county recorder is the official keeper of real estate records for the county. It is this office’s function to provide protection to persons and property by recording a variety of legally essential documents. The recorder accepts: Deeds, Mortgages, Mechanic’s Liens, Powers of Attorney, Recognizance Bonds, IRS Liens, Corporate Franchise Liens, Subdivision Plats, Military Discharges, Worker’s Compensation Liens, Partnerships and other instruments for recording.
The county recorder also records all county and township zoning resolutions and amendments.
The Recorder serves a term of 4 years and is elected with the presidential election.
