Historical Series: The Worthington Project at LC Library

Arts and Culture, Community

Location: Liberty Center Public Library, 124 East St, Liberty Center, OH 43532

This Defiance County Black farming family and community burial ground was slowly erased from history by land ownership changes, neglect and agricultural use.
The Worthington Project came about in 2020 to establish an Ohio Historical Marker at the site, ensuring it would not be forgotten.
Guest speaker Alexandra Bevins will be here to tell us about the project, as well as the significance of this site, the genealogy of the Worthington family, historical use of the cemetery, and of the African American experience during the Civil War Era.
You won’t want to miss this fascinating discussion of local NW Ohio history!
