Community Painting Class

Arts and Culture, Community

Location: Soaring Arts Studio, 119 W Washington St, Napoleon, OH 43545

Join us as we re-open our community classes! Our very own Soaring Artist, Jen Nofziger, will be teaching this Black Cat Painting Class @ The Soaring Arts Studio! She will teach you how to create this Halloween painting from start to finish!
*As we transition and get back into the groove of our painting classes, we will be offering them for a record price of only $5.00 (typically $25-$30.) This will give our Artists the chance to refresh their teaching skills as we have fun creating together. This will include all supplies needed for the class and a 16″x20″ canvas.
*All ages and abilities are welcome! We do ask that children under 10 are accompanied by an adult. (Also, we need an emergency form on file for any youth between the ages of 11-18 that will be painting independently.)
*NOTE: Seats are limited for this class, and we will still require face masks and social distancing at this time, unless you are attending with a group.
To RSVP, please register and pre-pay online at our website (see “get ticket” link on this event), or give us a call at 419-592-0535.

Humane Society Bingo

Community, Fundraiser

Location: 470 Independence Drive, Napoleon, OH 43545

Since 1998, the HCHS has been successfully operating a State licensed bingo game to help keep our shelter operating. This is important to our shelter as we receive no county or state funding. Players and volunteers are always welcome!

Monday nights @ the Filling Home – 470 Independence Drive, Napoleon, Ohio.
Doors open at 5pm – games start at 7pm.
Must at least 18 years of age for entry. You must play bingo or volunteer to be present. Volunteers may arrive as early as 4PM to assist with set up. (Please contact us in advance if you choose to help with set up.)

You may bring your own food into the building.

PACKETS CONTAIN SHEETS FOR 21 GAMES
PRICES:
9 Faces ………….$12.00
12 Faces ………….$15.00
18 Faces ………….$21.00
24 Faces ………….$25.00 (two 12 face packets played by one person)
36 Faces ………….$35.00 (two 18 face packets played by one person)
Jackpot Strips (3 faces) $1.00 (This is needed for the optional Crazy Letter “T” game that is NOT included in the packet.)
Pull tab instant tickets are also available for $1 each.
Players are also welcome to participate in our Hot Ball. Hot Ball is a Bingo version of a 50/50 raffle. Each night players may pay $1 to enter their name into the drawing. Before the games begin a ball is pulled from the hopper at random, and this ball number becomes the “Hot Ball”. If you Bingo on the Hot Ball, you win the pot! If the pot is not won then the balance goes to the next week. (Multiple winners share the pot.) If you Bingo on the Hot Ball, but did not sign up, you are not eligible to win.
Lucky Balls may be purchased for an additional $5 when you purchase your game packet. The Lucky Ball is a number that you pick (between 1 and 75). That number acts as an additional “Free Space”. You may pre-dauber your additional free space before the games begin. Please note: Lucky Balls may not be shared. Your chosen number and initials will be written on the back of your game packet(s). If you Bingo using your Lucky Ball, please have the number visible, and notify the volunteer that it was used.

-Other information-
The amount we pay out for each night is determined by the size of the crowd so that we make sure we take in enough money from paper sales to cover the total bingo payouts. The current minimum is $20, with a maximum of $100 (for 160 players or more). State law prohibits more than $3500 for total packet payouts.

For volunteers- State law prohibits volunteers if they have a felony for any reason. Volunteers are needed to sell tickets, help with counter sales, cleanup, set up, and to manage concessions.

For cancellations, check this Facebook, or call the Animal Shelter at 419-592-3777. Unexpected game cancellations will be announced on WNDH (103.1), WBNO (100.9), WDFM (98.1), and WMTR (96.1) radio stations. Games will be cancelled for holidays (if they fall on Monday) such as Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Christmas, and New Years. Games will also be cancelled for level 2 Snow Emergencies.

Jen Nofziger’s Solo Art Exhibit Opening

Arts and Culture, Community

Location: Holgate Community Library, 204 Railway Ave, Holgate, OH 43527

We are excited to announce that The Soaring Arts Exhibits, being held at the Holgate Community Library, will be returning in October!
Join us on Monday, October 4th from 5PM-7PM for the opening reception of Artist Jen Nofziger’s newest exhibit! In addition to the opening night, her art will be on display during the regular library hours, through the entire month of October!
(Covid safety guidelines for the event will be set to closer to the opening date, following the CDC’s recommendations, for the safety of all.)
Here is a little more from Jen:
“My name is Jen Nofziger. I am an Artist from Soaring Arts Studio, and I have autism. I love to explore my creative abilities through art. I’ve worked with many different techniques like mandalas, optical Illusions, line art, acrylic pours, and geometric art! I have also created two designs that have been used in murals around Napoleon!
I love doing art, helping out with big projects, teaching community, classes, working at art fairs, and helping with customer service!
In this exhibit you will see a collection of my most recent work. There will be a lot of unique photography and optical illusion pieces.”

*The Holgate Community Library has been serving it’s community since 1922. They house a large collection of fiction and non-fiction books, audio visual materials, DVD’s and magazines, along with juvenile and young adult sections. They also pride themselves in having a large history section. In 2018, they remodeled their building. It is now a beautiful, spacious Library that is an asset to our area!
*Soaring Arts is a vibrant and inspiring place where Artists of all abilities are empowered to explore their talents and express themselves through the arts!
